Te Kaunihera Manapou Paramedic Council established

Te Kaunihera Manapou Paramedic Council was established as a Regulatory Authority (RA) under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act (2003) (the Act) effective 1 January 2020 after many years of seeking regulation of the profession. The Council’s role is to regulate paramedics in New Zealand.

The Council would like to congratulate Carlton Irving who was elected Chair and Dr Bronwyn Tunnage who was elected Deputy Chairperson at the first Council meeting held on 30 and 31 July 2020 in Wellington.

The Council will now begin consulting with the sector on the proposed scope(s) of practice, qualifications and fees for services.  When these have been completed and any amendments made, the final scopes of practice, qualifications and fees will be gazetted and applications for registration will be open for the profession.
